Recently the unit had validated the Anti-rodent and Anti-termite research and testing procedure for evaluating the efficacy of repellants coated in pipes, cables etc. Department is also engaged in research on herbal anti-snake venom and anti-scorpion compounds which will facilitate in reducing the snake and scorpion bite fatality incidences. We also give scientific training on identification of venomous and non-venomous snakes, how to apply first aid measures post snake bite and how snakes are important to maintain the ecological balance. Snake survey is one of the major activities of the unit where in scientific guidance to various institutes, universities, five star, three star hotels etc. is provided for controlling the snake menace in their premises. Apart from this, the unit is also involved in various research activities on snake and scorpion venom to explore their therapeutic potential.
