The majestic Durbar Hall of the Institute was decorated specially for felicitation of Prince of Wales during his visit in 1875 to the then Governor's House. A commemorative painting of the Hall during this period depicting a royal ball still hangs in the Hall.
When the Governor's House was handed over to Haffkine for starting a Research Institute, the Hall was used to house the treasure of medical literature as a library and also an auditorium for scientific conventions. Many great scientists like C.V. Raman have delivered scientific orations here.
In 1990, a separate two storied building was constructed to accommodate the huge archival collections of books and journals and since, then the Hall is exclusively used for holding lectures and training programmes
The spacious and regal Hall measures 35 m × 10 m and has a great height of 7.5 m. It has a seating capacity of 250 and is well equipped with modern audio-visual equipment such as high quality amplifying system and LCD projectors.
Durbar Hall of the Haffkine Institute is located at Parel,South Mumbai, which is convenient by Central, Western and Harbour railways. It is also reachable by road (Eastern Express Way and connected by BEST bus routes. The Haffkine Institute Premises is one of the green premises in South Mumbai with huge parking place. The area of Haffkine Institute is highly secure and safe place as it is restricted areas for public access.
This hall is available for conducting Educational programs such as; Workshops, seminars, conferences, Meetings, Training etc.
