In the assessment and evaluation of the toxic characteristics of a chemical or a substance, such as Solid, Liquid or Gas, determination of toxicity is an initial step. It provides the information on possible health hazards likely to be arise from exposures by any routes.

The Department of Toxicology is actively engaged in toxicity testing of commercial samples referred by various industries and institutes. The samples for toxicity testing included drugs and related products, cosmetics, chemicals etc. Department also involves in short term training and research projects on Anti-inflammatory, Analgesic and Antipyretic activity of different plant extract. The department of toxicology in collaboration with zoonosis conducts short term training on “principal and practices in laboratory animal care”.
