Brief Introduction:
Dr. Rege has acquired Ph.D. degree in the subject Microbiology from University of Mumbai. She has worked as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) on a project funded by AYUSH at ICT, Mumbai. Also, as a Visiting Faculty (Food Microbiology & Safety, Sem-I) at S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai. Besides, she has worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) at Haffkine Institute. Also worked as a Research Associate (RA) on a DST-sponsored project. She is acquainted with various research methodologies in Microbiology, Immunology and Serology such as ELISA, FACS Counting, Scintillation Counting, Animal tissue culture, virus isolation, anti-viral testing, Viral RNA Extraction (COVID-19 samples) and basic Microbiological techniques. Furthermore, worked on plant products using Soxhlet extraction, Decoction, Maceration etc. and on Microbial Biofilms. She has also worked as a Practical Examiner for M.Sc. course at Dr. D. Y. Patil University, Mumbai. Dr. Rege has mentored and co-mentored Short Term Research Internship Students as well. Dr. Rege has received recognition as M.Sc. (by Research) guide in the subject Microbiology by Mumbai University. She has also received recognition as Ph.D. guide in the subject Microbiology by Mumbai University.

She Joined Haffkine Institute on 19th Jan. 2010. With over a decade of experience in various departments at the Haffkine Institute. Mrs. Meenal has developed a comprehensive skill set in microbiology, clinical pathology, virology, and toxicology. Her Professional experiences, skills and expertise include:
- Trained in handling laboratory animals and conducting toxicity assessments.

As a Senior Technical Assistant in Department of Bacteriology she conducted tests on water quality, including bacteriological assessments, evaluated disinfectants for efficacy, tested water purifiers for microbiological standards, engaged in various microbiology-related researches and testing activities.
In Department of Clinical Pathology she managed haematological assays and microbiological testing, worked on sample analysis and reporting results as a Senior Technical Assistant.
In Department of Virology she Conducted H1N1 testing using RT-PCR methodology as a Senior Technical Assistant and ensured accurate and timely processing of viral assays.
In Department of Toxicology she conducted various laboratory assays related to Toxicology and is involved in in vivo toxicity testing which involves handling of small laboratory animals like Rabbit, Mice, Rat, Guinea pig etc. She operates and manages the zebra fish facility, focusing on husbandry and toxicity assays. She actively participates in organizing and conducting workshops and training programs for staff and students to enhance knowledge in toxicology and related fields. She was also engaged in various department-related researches, testing and training activities.
