The Haffkine Library

The Haffkine Library is one of the largest and oldest medical libraries in the country, maintained since the inception of the institute over a century ago.
Originally housed in the verandah of the historic Darbar Hall, the library has grown into a purpose-built four-storeyed building. The foundation stone was laid by Hon'ble Late Shri Bhalchandra Anant Sawant (Bhaisaheb Sawant), Minister for Public Health, on 8th February 1988. The architectural plan was designed by Sir J.J. School of Architecture, Mumbai. The new library building was inaugurated on 24th October 1991 by the then Minister of Public Health and Medical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra, Hon'ble (Mrs) Pushpatai Hire.
The Library of Haffkine Institute for Training, Research and Testing is a repository of information covering the disciplines of infection disease, pathogenesis, and related subjects. It serves as a knowledge reservoir in the field of Bio-Medicine and allied subjects — catering not only to students and researchers of this Institute, but also to institutions, colleges and hospitals across the country.
